Jackie Kleiner is the HMS School Counselor.

Most parents’ recollection of a counselor is from high school, and memories of class scheduling and college recommendations.  In the first couple of weeks of school, Jackie has been a crucial component in children and families making the transition from summer to school. She deals with a number of students who had some separation anxiety this year,  teaches Second Step lessons in every classroom, and  plays an important role with families who experienced significant change over the summer. In addition, Jackie and Principal Bill Carozza work together when children  who (rarely!) make inappropriate choices that need our attention. In short, like all of our staff members, her role is essential in making HMS an inviting, warm, and safe place to be.

Jackie’s email address is jkleiner@hopkintonschools.org

Summer is coming…and it’s coming faster than normal. Of course, I’m not referring to New Hampshire weather - I’m not sure when we’re going to see even seasonal temperatures, but I can tell you that the last day of school is only six weeks from today. Due to no snow days this school year (perhaps a first in my memory) parents need to be thinking soon about their little ones’ schedules for June,...
