Facility Project Info
For the last couple of years, the Leadership Team, Superintendent and School Board have been discussing potential changes to our facilities based on future enrollment and deferred maintenance. At one point, it looked like enrollment in our district was declining over time and one plan we were looking at was to close one of our elementary schools and build on to the other, creating a K-5 elementary school and a 6-12 secondary school. Then, surprisingly, we received two straight years of high kindergarten numbers and the original plan was scrapped. At this point, we are still proposing some structural and safety changes to our buildings and other improvements. We have had a number of tours and public discussions at HMS in the last couple of weeks and there are many more to come. In fact, the full list of these events can be found here: http://www.hopkintonschools.org/news/facility-project-educationfeedbackevent-schedule
Also, there will be a presentation and open discussion with Superintendent Steven Chamberlin and the Facilities Committee on Wednesday, October 4th at 6:30 pm. It will be held at the Harold Martin School Preschool Room during the PTA meeting. Childcare will be provided for children 5 and up by the National Honor Society. Please attend to hear the details and offer up your ideas as well.
