REACHING FOR THE STARS 2018
For those not familiar with this program, Reaching for the Stars is a volunteer run after-school enrichment program offered to Harold Martin students (kindergarten thru 3rd grade). The range of topics offered to our kids is wide; previous classes have included sewing, cooking, engineering, architecture, jewelry making, Zentangle, painting, arts + crafts, gardening, nature, Yoga, fairy houses, and math games. We are looking for volunteer leaders to teach a class. The subject can be anything YOU want. This is a fun and rewarding experience for both the kids and volunteers.
Your expenses will be covered within a fairly generous budget.
If you have younger children, no problem. We’ve got your little ones covered with a supervised playroom to keep them busy during RFTS.
We are getting organized earlier than usual this year because there are new regulations requiring leaders to be fingerprinted. This process can take up to a month to complete.
If you're not able to lead a class but still want to help, we do need volunteers to assist in the classes and help in the playroom. We are hoping to include kindergarteners this year IF we have enough classes and volunteers. More help is needed than ever before. Even if you can't help every week, we can still use your help on the weeks when you're available.
Please contact Julie Zapton if you can help as a LEADER, ASSISTANT or PLAYROOM SUPERVISOR, or if you have any questions. We look forward to another great year at Reaching for the Stars!
